Folic acid is recommended from pre conception and for at least the first 6 weeks of pregnancy in order to reduce the chance of birth defects such as spina bifida. Most pregnancy multi's will have some folic acid (usually 400mcg) but as the recommended dose is 800mcg per day, you will need extra during this time.
Important in the early stages of baby's development. It is recommended to take 800mcg per day.
